Dial In

Privacy Policy

Effective July 22, 2026

Dial In is built so that your data stays on your device. This policy explains what the app accesses and, just as importantly, what it doesn't do with it.

Who is responsible for your data

Dial In is made by Tyler Ferrington, an independent developer based in the United Kingdom, who is the data controller for the purposes of this policy. You can reach us at tylerferrington@gmail.com.

What Dial In accesses

Your contacts (third-party data)

Because Dial In practises you on people already in your contacts, it necessarily handles personal data belonging to other people who never installed the app or agreed to anything. We think this is low-risk because that data is never uploaded, synced, or shared anywhere — it's used only to render practice sessions on your own device — but you're responsible for having a reasonable basis to store and practise with a contact's information.

Where your data lives

Your practice history, progress, and settings are stored locally in the app's storage on your device and are never transmitted to us or any third party. Dial In has no account system, no backend server, and no analytics or advertising SDKs.

Security

Because everything stays on your device, your data is only as secure as your device itself. We rely on your operating system's standard app storage protections and don't add our own encryption on top of it, so we'd encourage keeping your device's lock screen and OS up to date rather than relying on the app for extra protection.

A note on device backups

Your device's own backup features (such as iCloud Backup on iOS or Google's Android backup) may include Dial In's locally stored data as part of a general backup of your device, in the same way they back up other apps' data. That's controlled by your device's backup settings, not by us — we don't have access to your backups, and nothing is sent to Dial In or its developer as a result.

Sharing

We do not sell, rent, or share your contacts or usage data with anyone, because we never receive it in the first place.

Your rights

Because Dial In doesn't send your data to us, there's nothing on our servers to request, correct, or delete — everything is already in your control, on your device:

If you're in the UK or EU and have concerns about how your data is handled, you can contact us at the email above, or lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority — in the UK, the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO).

California privacy rights

We do not sell or share personal information, and have not done so in the past 12 months, as we do not collect any personal information on our servers to begin with.

Third-party platforms

Dial In is distributed through the Apple App Store and/or Google Play. Those platforms may collect their own diagnostic, install, or crash data under their own privacy policies — that collection is not controlled by us and isn't covered by this policy.

Children's privacy

Dial In is not directed at children under 13 (or the digital consent age in your country, if higher — for example, some EU countries set this at 16), and we do not knowingly collect data from them. In any case, no personal data is ever transmitted off your device.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, we'll update the effective date above. Continuing to use Dial In after a change means you accept the updated policy.
